FAQs
Why are in-clinic diagnostics important?
- Physical examinations alone do not provide a complete picture of an animal’s health condition.
- Annual check ups and bloodwork help us find abnormalities that might indicate the early onset of a disease, an infection, as well as problems with organ function.
- Pre-surgical blood testing will indicate if your pet has an underlying condition that may be problematic before we administer anesthesia.
What types of diagnostic services do you offer and what conditions can be detected?
- Complete Blood Counts (CBC’s)
- Blood Chemistry
- Electrolyte Evaluation
- Parvovirus Testing
- Heartworm Detection
- Tick Fever Testing (Ehrlichia, Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis)
- Fecal Exams & Intestinal Parasite checks
- Urinalysis
- Feline Leukemia
- Feline Immunodeficiency Virus
How often should my pet have diagnostic testing?
- We recommend annual bloodwork profiles to provide a continuous record for our veterinarian to identify trends and specific areas to focus on to prolong the duration and quality of life of our patients.
- Senior pets or those pets with chronic disease may require more frequent testing.
